Boca Raton, FL is located in the southern part of Palm Beach County and lies less than 45 miles from Miami. Boca Raton has strict ordinances that forbid billboards, specify the types and sizes of commercial buildings, and place restrictions on building signs. Civic leaders and property owners are justifiably proud of their city, so Asphalt Care Services is frequently contacted about parking lot maintenance, asphalt repairs and sealcoating, thermoplastic line striping, bumper block installation, parking lot striping, bollard installation, asphalt paving and overlaying, traffic signage, and speed bump installation.
Boca Raton, FL | What Is Boca Raton’s History?
Before the arrival of Europeans, the area around modern-day Boca Raton was occupied by a Native American tribe of hunter-gatherers who were seasonal migrants. When Florida was surrendered by Spain to Britain in 1763, most of the remaining Native Americans in the area were transported to Cuba. The area was largely uninhabited for the next 200 years. In 1895, the first non-Native American settlement was established near what is now Boca Raton, but it remained a fairly insignificant farming community of about 100 people until Addison Mizner, an architect, announced his plan to create a socially exclusive resort city that would outshine Palm Beach in 1925. Boca Raton, FL had been incorporated the previous year, and many thousands of acres of land had been acquired by others prior to Mizner’s announcement. Few of Mizner’s planned buildings were ever constructed; the devastating hurricane of 1926 triggered the end of the land boom, and in 1930, there were fewer than 450 people in Boca Raton. Nevertheless, the city continued to grow. In 2019, Boca Raton had an estimated population of almost 100,000 people, and the town has exceeded even Mizner’s grandest dreams.
